Algae: A Top Food Trend Today, Potential for Food Security for Tomorrow?

The Specialty Food Association named algae as one of the hottest food trends in 2018. Microalgae produce high quality proteins, carbohydrates and lipids in an efficient and scalable manner. There is a growing use of microalgae in foods today from drinks, snacks and prepared foods to a cooking oil. Panelists will also discuss efforts to expand algae production to develop alternative and affordable solutions to the world's food and protein needs.
